Hi Yar,
This might seem like a silly question but please bare with a newbie. I've discovered a few MSDE installations around the place, & most are on a RTM version. I know no -one else cares about them as they came with small apps. But I would like someone to confirm or deny that they are just as vunerable as any other SQL installation i.e. std edition & should apply the Service Packs ?
Cheers
SuzeA) yes
B) yes|||i'll be keeping my clothes on, 'cause i hardly know you
:)|||Although I've never tried it, I don't think that MSDE will even allow the service to start on Windoze XP without SQL sp3. Yes, without any shadow of doubt, you should apply SQL service packs to MSDE!
-PatP|||Unlike SQL Server, MSDE has been updated to include SP3. So if its a somewhat new installation it should be patched.|||@.ebola: Suze noted on her original post that "most are on a RTM version". So I assumed these are no freshly installed (wiht SP3 included), but rather some older installations (what Suze had found out with osql - "select @.@.server_version") or something like that.
I only was regarding/answering exactly this scenario
@.Rudy: Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker - I didn't quite get your comment ? Could you please elaborate a bit ? Did I offend someone in any way ?
Didn't mean to .. If it was the case, I apologize|||Thank you for the replies chaps, I'll get to work on those updates & the laugh for the morning !!! :-)|||bare = uncover, unsheathe, reveal, strip (i.e. remove clothing)
bear = carry, sustain; bear with = treat forbearingly (i.e. be patient)
:)|||Ohhhh now I see - thank you Rudy for your translation help - I hadn't seen THAT typo ...;)
