I installed MSDE 2000 Release A, but can't find the Query Analyzer. Is it
included, or only available with other SQL Server versions. If it is
included, then how do I install it? If not, can I download it from somewhere
else?
Hi
MSDE 2000 does not come with any of the tools like Query Analyzer or
Enterprise Manager.
You could download the evaluation edition of SQL Server 2000 and use those
tools for 120 days.

MSDE 2000 Release A - Instalation Problem in Windows XP SP2
I can't install MSDE release A in Windows XP SP2. I verified if Server
Service is started and it is ok. I also verified if File and Printer sharing
is checked on network properties and it is ok. The windows firewall also is
disabled but the instalation doesn't work. I run the follow comand setup.exe
sapwd="suportebsb." /L*v C:/MSDELog.log.
Anyone can help me?

MSDE 2000 an 64 Bit CPU?
Does it make sense to use a 64 bit CPU with MSDE 2000? Or better: does MSDE
user it? I can′t find any hints.

actually it does not make sense... MSDE can use up to 2GB of ram, 2 CPUs and
a database size limit of 2GB (per database data file)... so having a 64bit
CPU in order to address more memory is non sense..
anyway, I never tried, but it should run in WOW on 64bit OS...

if the question is "can MSDE run on 64bit CPU" I do think yes, in Window On
Window...
if, on the contrary, the question is "using" it, MSDE is a 32 bit
application..

MSDE 1 => msde 2 => MSDE 2 SP3a
I'm able to successfully upgrade my MSDE 1 installation from Office 2k to
MSDE 2, using any of the versions 1 thru 3a. However, I can't figure out
the command-line parameters to upgrade MSDE 2 to a newer version of MSDE 2,
at least not retaining my Office Server Extensions database. Considering
that SP 4 for MSDE 2 will probably be out soon, what's the proper method to
upgrade MSDE 2 when it was used to upgrade MSDE 1?
Well, I figured out the easy way to do things. First, you install MSDE 2.
Then you install office server extensions using the /nd switch to avoid
installing an older version of MSDE. Had a lot of registry cleaning to do,
had to unregister ows.dll, and a few other problems to fix before I could
get a successful install of OSE. Works fine, though. I was even able to
apply the OSE SP3 patch.

Hi,
I can't uninstall MSDE from W2K server. Add/remove doesn't work.
It's any possibility to remove the engine?
Thanks

you can manually uninstall MSDE as described in
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;Q290991 and/or
http://support.microsoft.com/default...en-us;320873..
the latter requires you to use MsiZap.exe, part of the Windows Installer
SDK, to clear up Windows Intaller related registry entries...
personally I always used the 1st one..

my msdb has been put into single user mode and i cant get it back to

What put it in single user mode? Did you check the logs?
If it was a user action, did you try executing the
following:
ALTER DATABASE msdb

execute the alter database statement.
